WorldCon , is the largest annual gathering of science fiction fans from around the world. The convention is held in a different city each year with a new name.

WFC, World Fantasy Convention, is the largest annual gathering of fantasy fans from around the world. The convention is held in a different city each year.
World Fantasy Convention 2009, The 35th World Fantasy Convention, October 29-November 1, 2009, San Jose, California.

Bouchercon, is the largest annual gathering of Mystery fans from around the world. The convention is held in a different city each year but is always called Boucheron.

Occasionally, companies whose business is convention organizing hold conventions in the area.  These conventions are typically oriented towards media or gaming.  These organizations include Vulkon (which holds a media conevntion in Cleveland in October).
